Key Highlights

The most sought after California wines in the world

This collection features the top two California wines traded by value on Liv-Ex so far in 2021, the 2018 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville and the 2018 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition to top tier red wines, this collection also features the extremely rare Screaming Eagle Sauvignon Blanc of which only 50 cases (600 bottles) are made annually.

Three 100 point wines

This collection features three wines awarded 100 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - 2018 Kapcsàndy Cabernet Sauvignon State Lane Vineyard Grand Vin (400 cases), 2018 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville (500 cases), 2018 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena (1,500 cases). Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate scores are considered the gold-standard of ratings, and wines with 100 points are highly coveted by collectors.

Access to the most difficult allocations in California

Many of the wines in this collection are sold via allocation only. This is due to high demand and limited quantities produced. The annual production of a majority of the wines in this collection averages under 3,000 cases/year with nine of the wines made in quantities of 1,000 cases or less. For comparison, the First Growths of Bordeaux produce more than 10,000 cases on average each year.

Collection Description

The Napa Valley 2018 Collection features a selection of the best Napa wines acquired directly upon release, ensuring acquisition at the best possible prices. 2018 was one of the best Napa vintages for red and white wines in recent decades, rivaling the renowned 2016. With such small quantities of each vintage produced and the fact that only list members receive allocations, it is extremely difficult to acquire wines from the top producers upon release. Early acquisition is especially important when selecting investment grade wines as history tells us that the best value is often found close to release. The 2018 wines are especially sought after, as the best 2016 Napa wines are nearly impossible to find, since most of the wines are sold exclusively to list members. Additionally, the 2017 vintage was marred by extreme heat and fire, which has led collectors to avoid wines from that year. While 2018 was a great year overall, we sought out the cream of the crop to craft a collection composed of the top small production ultra-premium Napa bottles, including three 100 point wines.
