Key Highlights

Top Islay Whisky In The World

Bowmore is the oldest and arguably the most well-known and sought-after whisky produced in the famed Scottish region of Islay. The second-ranked Scottish single malt by value market share globally, Bowmore is second only to Macallan in the rankings. The statistics behind this #2 ranking are borne out in the Rare Whisky 101 Bowmore Index, which has recorded 418% in growth in value since 2013.

Extreme Cask Scarcity after 15 Years

A majority of the world’s single malt Scotch whisky is bottled between three and twelve years of age. Once 15 years have passed since a specific whisky has been distilled, 10% or fewer of the initially produced barrels still exist. The lack of supply results in higher demand, which only continues to grow as the remaining barrels over the age of 15 years continue to be bottled.

Extended Barrel Aging Results in Highly Sought After Whisky

Unlike wine, whiskey does not continue to mature and develop in the bottle. This means that the whiskies bottled between three and twelve years retain their youthful flavor regardless of how long they are kept in the bottle. In order to gain the complexity and nuances desired by collectors, a whisky must continue to be aged in barrel. This reality, compounded with the extreme scarcity of barrels older than 15 years, generates the demand that has historically seen prices for whiskies 20+ years old fetch higher prices than their younger counterparts.

Collection Description

Ranked second in Single Malt market share (by value), only behind industry behemoth Macallan, Bowmore’s whiskies have seen 418% growth in value since 2013, according to Rare Whisky 101’s Bowmore Index. This offering offers the rare opportunity, not only to invest in Bowmore whisky, but in a cask that is highly sought after by independent bottlers and spirits companies, due to the fact that the whisky is still developing and maturing (something that does not occur in bottle). In addition to different sources of demand and additional development, cask values have historically benefited from scarcity due to the fact that 90% of whisky barrels are bottled within 15 years of initial distillation. This collection leverages the brand power of Bowmore, the benefits of 20+ years of maturation, and the scarcity of supply to create a unique whisky investment opportunity.
