Bordeaux, based on the Liv-ex Bordeaux 500 index, has gained 3.1% over the last 12 months, with a two-year return of 14.9%. If one dives deeper, these estates are part of the “Left Bank” of Bordeaux, was the top-performing regional Liv-ex Index, up 0.7% in the first quarter of 2023. Bordeaux as a whole has been overshadowed recently by the breakneck speed of price growth in Burgundy and Champagne, but this sets up a strong value thesis, as the wines of Bordeaux are now offering consumers and collectors similar quality at better price points.

When the wines in this collection are compared to the famed 2009 vintage we observe that the scores are the same or better, but that the fair market value for the wines featured are substantially lower than those of the 2009. The Haut-Brion wines featured in this collection currently have a fair market value that is 36.42% below that of the 2009 vintage. The La Mission Haut-Brion sees an even larger discrepancy, with the wines priced on average 48.17% lower than the 2009 vintage, despite the 2019 and 2020 scoring better than the 2009.

Collection Description

The Haut-Brion & La Mission Collection is an opportunity to invest in a mini vertical of two of the most prominent producers in Pessac-Leognan, and in Bordeaux as a whole. These estates have a long and storied history, dating back to the 16th century when the Haut-Brion estate was first established.

Both estates are known for their tradition of producing some of the world's finest wines, this assertion is furthered by the fact that each wine in this collection has been rated at 98 points or better by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. This is a testament to the exceptional quality which continues to drive brand recognition and demand.

Bordeaux as a whole has been overshadowed recently by Burgundy’s ascendant rise, but this sets up a strong value thesis, as the wines of Bordeaux are now offering attractive relative value by way of exceptional quality at more attainable entry points. The Liv-ex Bordeaux 500 index has registered a two-year return of 14.9%. The Left Bank of Bordeaux, which includes these estates, was up 0.7% in the first quarter of 2023, beating the broader market and clocking in as the top-performing regional Liv-ex index for the quarter.

Furthermore, the vintages of Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion offer excellent relative value when compared to similar scoring back vintages. For example, the vintages of Haut-Brion featured in this collection currently have a fair market value that is 36.42% below that of the 2009 vintage, which received the same average score of 97 point from critics. La Mission Haut-Brion sees an even larger gap, with the wines priced on average 48.17% lower than the 2009 vintage, despite the 2019 and 2020 scoring higher. These gaps in pricing demonstrate the potential appreciation that wines from these two producers can realize for wines with similar calibers of score.

We may design an interface on the Vint Platform to enable investors to indicate interest in buying/selling their holdings to help facilitate additional liquidity for investors. However, no such interface has been developed and would require the assistance of a third-party broker-dealer or the association with an ATS. Any trading platform would be subject to approval and all trades would be subject to restrictions under state and federal securities law and the transfer restrictions included in our operating agreement, which may limit access to the trading platform for some investors.
