Key Highlights

Leroy Is The #1 Brand On Liv-Ex’s Power 100

Long known for producing elite wines, Leroy’s popularity has skyrocketed on the secondary market over the past ten years due to intense demand and strong price appreciation. In 2021, Leroy alone made up 10.9% of all Burgundy trade by value on Liv-Ex. 2021 success propelled Leroy to the title of the most powerful wine brand on the secondary market in the world for the second year in a row.

Peerless Quality Grand Cru Wine From a Heralded Vintage

The wine featured in this collection is grown in the esteemed Richebourg Grand Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanee, which borders the venerated vineyards of La Romanee and Romanée-Conti. In addition to its prestigious origins, this wine hails from the exceptional 2015 vintage and was awarded 98 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Exceedingly Scarce, Limited Production Wines With No US Availability*

With only 1,511 bottles produced, these wines are highly allocated and challenging to acquire. In fact, at the time of writing, there are no bottles of the 2015 Leroy Richebourg available for sale in the US. Via Vint’s robust sourcing network, we were able to secure an allocation of these rare bottles at a favorable acquisition cost. *Only a single pre-arrival listing available

Collection Description

The top echelon of Burgundy producers only consists of a handful of names. If you asked collectors and merchants to narrow the field of top producers down to two, they would almost inevitably say Domaine Leroy and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The two producers are intrinsically linked by the fact that the Leroy family has half of the ownership rights to Domaine de la Romanée Conti, alongside the de Villane family. For decades, the Leroy family focused on producing Domaine wines under the DRC label and running a negociant house called Maison Leroy, which sources fruit from the top vineyards in Burgundy. However, in 1988, family matriarch Lalou Bize-Leroy decided it was time to purchase vineyard land and hold it under the Leroy name, and thus Domaine Leroy was born. Since its founding, the wines of Domaine Leroy have become some of the most sought-after and valuable wines on earth, accounting for the top 3 wines on Wine Searcher’s “50 Most Expensive Wines in the World” list. The Domaine’s wines are produced from just over 21 hectares (~52 acres) of vines across many of the top vineyards in Burgundy. The wines in this collection come from the famed Grand Cru Richebourg vineyard located in the Vosne-Romanée appellation next to the prestigious Romanée-Conti and La Romanée vineyards. Leroy only holds 0.78 hectares (1.93 acres) of vines in the vineyard, from which they produce a scarce amount of exceptional wine, as demonstrated by the 1,511 bottles in 2015. Leroy’s prestigious pedigree and limited production, combined with accelerating demand for Burgundy among collectors and connoisseurs, have led Leroy to become the #1 wine on Liv-Ex’s Brand Power list. The ranking measures the average value, volume, and sale price of a brand’s wines listed on the platform and the total number of wines on offer. Leroy’s performance as a portfolio saw +39% growth in 2021, which outpaced the red hot Burgundy market*, which was up +31% over the same period. The momentum has continued into 2022, with the specific wines featured in this collection up +10% YTD and the broader Burgundy market continuing to surge up 22%. Gaining access to such highly allocated wines and finding value in such a bullish market can be challenging. At Vint, we worked with our partners to seize an opportunity to secure an allocation of three bottles below the current low price listed on Wine-Searcher. As such, we are pleased to offer our first collection featuring the wines of Domaine Leroy as a perfect jewel to add to a well-established portfolio, or a cornerstone asset from which to build a new portfolio. *Liv-Ex Burgundy 150 Index
