Collection Description

This is Vint's first collection exclusively devoted to the wines of Screaming Eagle. We included the wines in our inaugural launch collection and our Napa Valley 2018 collection. Yet, we still wanted to offer our community the opportunity to invest in a collection exclusively made up of the world's most sought-after US wines. This collection consists of a mini-vertical of the three most recent releases of Screaming Eagle, including two vintages, the 2017 and 2019, that have not been available in any other Vint collection. Screaming Eagle is a driving force behind the growth of US and California wines on the secondary market. With the number of listings of US wines on Liv-Ex growing by 480% in the past five years, US wines now make up 7.5% of total value traded on the platform, up from only 0.1% in 2012. With 99% of the US wines listed on Liv-Ex hailing from California, it is not a surprise that the Liv-Ex California 50 Index rose nearly 25% in 2021, behind only Burgundy and Champagne, and ahead of Bordeaux and Italy. This momentum has remained strong in 2022, where the California 50 Index is up 6.7% YTD despite the financial headwinds of the war in Ukraine and financial market instability. This strength is due to a broadening secondary market for California wines. Once dominated by the UK (over 60%), demand for California wines on the secondary market is growing in the US, which until now had primarily focused on exporting the wines. Today the UK still makes up 46% of the demand for US wines on the secondary market, but the US market now has a substantial share at 38%, with the remainder split between Asia and Europe. This burgeoning US market has not dampened the appetite in the UK for US wines. Instead, the increased competition for the same wines has led to rising prices and has contributed to the recent growth of the California 50 Index. Screaming Eagle has remained at the pinnacle of California wines for collectors and investors worldwide throughout this growth. The collection covers the three of the most recent releases of Screaming Eagle, beginning with the 2017 vintage. Due to fire and the need for rigorous selection and skillful assemblage, only a limited number of magnums were produced. There were no 750ml bottles of the grand vin and limited quantities of “The Flight” produced. From the stellar 2018 vintage, we have included three packs of the 100- point Screaming Eagle and the 98-point "The Flight," which is Screaming Eagle's second wine made from the youngest vines grown in the same hallowed vineyard as the standard Screaming Eagle. Rounding out the vertical, we have the most recent Screaming Eagle release, the 2019, which has already scored 100-points from Vinous and offers investors the longest runway to experience any success the wine may have in the future. Overall, this collection offers the Vint community access to the first true blue-chip wine in the United States and a superstar on the global market at a time when California wines are more in demand globally than ever before.
